Floor Care Tips
Here are some tips to help keep your carpet and tile looking great!
Carpet Cleaning Tips
Always vacuum your floor prior to using any type of wet cleaning method on your floor. - When vacuuming, push the vacuum forward a few feet in a very slow and direct motion and reverse it.
- When cleaning certain spots on your carpet, it is recommended that you use warm soapy water.
- Vacuum high-traffic areas such as hallways and entry ways on a regular basis to prevent them from showing a pattern.
Wood Floor Cleaning Tips
Be mindful of the humidity in your home. Too much moisture in the air will warp the floors, and too little can cause them to become brittle. Ideally, the humidity level in your home should be around 40 to 50 percent. - Do not use water on your wood floors. If necessary, use a damp cloth to wipe up spills, and then dry the floor immediately with a soft cloth.
- If you decide to clean or wax your floors, use only those products recommended by the manufacturer of your flooring. Many types of floor cleaners and waxes (including oil soaps) can dull and even damage your flooring.
- To get rid of minor scratches on your floors, use a furniture scratch polish matching the color of your floor. Be sure to use this product after you vacuum your floor and before you wax it.
